I It seems like everyone on Lord Howe Island has a couple of different jobs. As there are only 400 Islanders this practice is necessary to keep services available for locals and tourists! Islanders are very cooperative in dropping you back at your accomodation after dinner out. One night we waited for the Bowlo chef to clean up the kitchen before he could drop us and other tourists back in the minibus! His regular driver was off sick.

here are some thumbnail sketches of some of the great people we met on Lord Howe Island!

Marine Adventures
Anthony of Marine Adventures, in a glass bottom boat. We went to North Bay, saw different types of corals, green turtles and hawksbill turtles and many beautiful fish.
Jims
Jim's Coffee and Burgers. Home of 'Big Jim's burger' and 'Small Jim's burger' A very relaxed place to relax and sketch, and even the Woodhen wandered in for her Early Bird coffee!
Ned's beach store
Ned's Beach Hire. An honesty box system loaning out equipment for very cheap prices. A snorkelling set, including flippers is $10 per day!

Guided walks, including the challenging Mount Gower climb (which I did not try) were led by experienced guides, and I can recommend the Chase n' Thyme Island orientation bus trip.

Benny's Fish Truck is located at the Jetty at lunch and dinner. They cook the fish you have caught, on one of the Marine Adventures, or serve the most delicious fish and chips using the freshest local fish. Chicken, Sashimi and drinks are also sold.
