Lord Howe Island Paradise

You know you will find a beautiful pristine beach, the water and coral lagoon beckon as you fly in!
Ned’s Beach, where the water is extremely clear, and the natural vegetation runs down to the sands became my favourite part of Lord Howe Island! The Sooty Terns nesting on the shallow dune are unperturbed, the first indication of the slice of paradise as I walk down to the beach. The colourful fish swimming around people in the water. But there were many other wonderful places and people.❤️

There was an honesty box store at Ned's Beach. It had wetsuits, snorkel sets, and boogie boards for hire. Fish food, suncream, pool noodles - pretty well anything that could be helpful to enjoy your stay at the beach!

Next is Lagoon Beach, near the Village Post Office, shops, and Community Hall.
The Crooked Post pub has a ringside view of the mountains and lagoon changing over the late afternoon, and the pink fluffy clouds. Patrons sit on the verandah or a table on the grass drinking cocktails or beer. There is only one dish offered each day - but it is usually tasty!

The two mountains, remnants of volcanic peaks are Mount Gower and Mount Lidgbird. The lava flows are stacked near horizontally on the side of Mount Gower, the taller of the two. Rabbit Island stands in the lagoon, without rabbits though.
After dinner it was time to search out the best sunset viewpoint. The jetty where Benny's fish and chip van sits at lunch and dinner, was brilliant.
A few people gather here as the sun goes down, either swimming, picnicking or relaxing.
